Arsenal have offered Sanchez a record contract

"I'm personally convinced that [a female manager in the Premier League] will happen soon", he said.

"He is focused. When you have treatment on the medical bench it's not easy".

According to a report by The Sun, Arsenal are determined to retain Alexis Sanchez beyond the transfer window and have offered him a new £300,000-a-week contract to ward off the likes of Manchester City and PSG. "He is out for a while, could be two weeks but he will not be available for Stoke".

Wenger was asked about PSG's interest and said he had not spoken with the club's chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi in "a long time" and he does not expect to hear from him.

Wenger told SFR Sport (via the Evening Standard) that he has a "firm intention" to retain Sanchez's services but added that he is "not super optimistic" about a contract renewal.

Having ended months of speculation by signing a new two-year contract, he is looking forwards and says that if the team put on a united front, the fans will fall into line behind them.

Alexis Sanchez meanwhile hasn't featured for the Gunners since last season's FA Cup win.

"Plenty of uncertainties about players who didn't play against Chelsea - Ramsey, Ozil, Mertesacker". Personally I think he is a hugely talented player, he's on the way up and he will continue to move up because the potential is there. "We have all the other players prepared in preseason and they are all ready".

Arsenal, without Sanchez, will host Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night, to kick off the new season.

Arsenal begin their league campaign on Friday while Liverpool play Watford away on Saturday.

"I feel we are good level of physical preparation, all the players got a good number of minutes in pre-season", Wenger continued.

Who are we to believe?
