Trump tells Calvo he's behind Guam "1000%"

The president called the Republican governor on August 11, to reassure him of support after an increasingly acrimonious exchange between the United States and North Korea, according to The New York Times.

"And your tourism, I can say this, your tourism is going to go up like tenfold with the expenditure of no money, so I congratulate you", Trump can be heard saying over the phone. Asked if the USA was going to war, he said cryptically, "I think you know the answer to that".

Eddie, I have to tell you, you've become extremely famous. "All over the world they're talking about Guam and they're talking about you", the clip, about 45 seconds long, showed the President as saying. It just looks like a attractive place. They're showing so much. "It just looks like a attractive place", Trump said. Territories like Guam, which North Korea has threatened to attack in response to Donald Trump's constant bluster about preemptive strikes. Calvo had the president on speaker phone, and posted a video of the exchange to his Facebook page.

"The U.S. President at [golf] links again let out a load of nonsense about 'fire and fury, ' failing to grasp the ongoing grave situation", a commander of the North Korean army said, as reported by CNN. It's also home to a US military base - so it makes sense that the island is getting attention from Kim Jong-un.

So I don't know about everyone else, but an impending missile strike is not exactly what I'm looking for when it comes to an island paradise getaway.

Trump is clearly leaning on the old adage that all press is good press, but here's the thing: it's not.

Trump has been escalating his rhetoric against North Korea, but says he hopes "it will all work out".

However, Guam's security agency has issued a fact sheet with advice on what residents should do in the event of a nuclear attack. "I'm so thankful and I'm glad you're holding the helm sir".

Well, at least someone is planning.
