Among the notable abilities of Black Manta are his Rockets, which were first shown in the reveal trailer.
Black Manta's intro also sees Aquaman telling him that Atlantis is "off limits", to which Manta responds, "So was my father" - which hints that the game is following the New 52 storyline from Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis in which Arthur Curry accidentally killed the villain's father in a fit of rage. So, it is understandable that they would want to bring in a character from the popular games. Coincidentally, actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen will be playing Black Manta in James Wan's Aquaman solo film next year. The character also has access to a harpoon gun, various eye laser attacks, shoulder mounted rockets, and a jet pack which lets him hover over a number of ground based projectiles such as Aquaman's tentacle strike.
Black Manta, Raiden, and Hellboy are just the latest additions to Injustice 2. Hopefully, plenty more characters will be released, both from DC Comics and other franchises. The DLC will contain three characters, like the previous one. Black Manta summons an item that looks like a spear, hurls it to his opponent, and pulls it back. If this were Mortal Kombat, guts and bones would be flying everywhere.
From the gameplay, Black Manta's primary goal will be getting close to his opponent to juggle them for non-stop combos.
In the trailer, we get to see the full range of Black Manta's moves.
Injustice 2 is available now for Xbox One and PS4.
