Apple Watch 3 will be an even better heart-rate tracker now, and it's clear that Apple increasingly has an eye to medical and sports applications for its watches. Your Watch will notify you if it detects an elevated heart rate when you're inactive. Watches will be available on September 22.

"Now you can go for a run with just your watch and be connected", Apple's Jeff Williams said on stage at the keynote event Tuesday. Yes, you can place calls using your Apple Watch, without having your iPhone around.

It will also let you stream 40 million songs from Apple Music "on your wrist". A cellular version will sell for $399, with a Wi-Fi only version at $329. Instead, the Watch has built in LTE support, connecting directly to your cellular network.

WatchOS 4 comes with a number of new features, including a new face that suggests content based on suggestions from the company's Siri virtual assistant, a News app, and a new list view for all of the applications installed on a device.

This all-day battery life expectancy is for both the non-LTE and LTE-packed model, which is an impressive feat. The two machines can exchange information so your Apple Watch will log your distance more accurately, and it can use that along with your body's information to estimate caloric burn. The design challenge Apple faced with the Series 3 was putting a power-hungry LTE radio and antenna inside the device, with a large enough battery to power them, while still keeping the Watch's slim figure.

Tim Cook just announced that Apple Watch is now the number one watch in the world. It will be available for orders starting September 15 and will ship on September 22. This will make Watch more attractive to those who don't want to switch smartphone OS.

While Series 3 looks virtually the same as previous models, the new Watch is more powerful than previous models.

Before getting to the new hardware, Williams walked us through some of the exciting new features of watchOS 4. The original Series 1, without Global Positioning System, sells for $249, down from $269. He also talks about how Apple is trying to make it easy for people to donate through iTunes.
