In a review that focused heavily on camera improvements, TechCrunch's Matthew Panzarino found the 8 and 8-Plus, aided by larger image sensors, new color filters and better high dynamic range (HDR) photography support, delivered "better color with a wider range of tones across all kinds of shooting environments". When Apple's software chief Craig Federighi came onstage to show how easy and fast it is to unlock the phone with a face, his first attempt was unsuccessful (the passcode screen popped up).
Apple showcased Face ID at the September Launch event of the iPhone recently, touting technology which had already been long tried by Android counterparts and faded due to their impracticality or bad implementation.
Chinese brand Huawei made fun of the facial recognition feature on Apple's 10th anniversary iPhone and hinted its forthcoming "Real AI Phone" will make short work of Apple's latest offering. An IR camera snaps an image of these dots, which the phone uses to authenticate you against an already-stored image of your face. The iPhone X is the first iPhone in history to incorporate facial recognition.

Chris Velazco noted that the glass exterior of the iPhone 8 has kept his handset free of nicks and scratches, in addition to enabling wireless charging. It's a vision of the smartphone future while the iPhone 8 is more stuck in the present, but just how different is it really? He also talked about carrier deals and discounts that make the iPhone X a little cheaper.
"We want to protect your data because we know it's yours, not ours".
Consumers are more excited about the iPhone X than the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, which were unveiled at the same event last week.
Both the iPhone X and iPhone 8 are available in 64GB and 256GB sizes and both have the same selection of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC (though only for Apple Pay). He considers that the iPhone 8 appears to not have very many upgrades, due to a very similar design to older models, but packs noticeable performance improvements and a stable battery life.
Apple says its version of the technology, called Face ID and available when the phone ships in November, uses a suite of sensors to map your face in 3-D. The rest of the ad is created to make you desire an iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus.
