Dera violence: Police rubbishes reports of summoning sect committee members

The police claimed that they have ample leads to conclude that the plan to trigger off riots if the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was declared guilty of rape had been finalised a week in advance to the court verdict on the godman. Interacting with the media in Panchkula, adjoining Chandigarh, after a meeting with the top brass of Haryana Police on the arrest of Honeypreet, Khattar said: "Dal mein kuchh kala hai (Something is fishy about the whole affair)".

About 30 people were killed and more than 350 injured in the violence and clashes between Ram Rahim supporters and security personnel in parts of Haryana and Punjab. The disk, which is also said to be also containing the details about the Ram Rahim's associates, will be handed over to Enforcement Directorate (ED) for further investigations.

The Punjab Chief Minister trashed Mr. Khattar's charges that the Punjab police failed to give intelligence inputs on Honeypreet to the police in the neighbouring state.

During questioning, she also purportedly told the police that she had lost her mobile phone and SIM card.
