Colts Unveil Statue of Peyton Manning Outside Lucas Oil Stadium

What is former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos quarterback doing now, 19 months after retiring from the NFL? Letterman was known for his comedic routines during his hosting of late night shows and he took the opportunity to roast Eli and the Giants with a one-liner.

Manning is now immortalized outside Lucas Oil Stadium.

"I think no statue, no stadium, and no Lombardi Trophy is needed to outline what Peyton Manning meant to this city and to this franchise", Polian said during the ceremony.

That says it all about how much Manning means to Indianapolis. "That's frustrating. When you win every year, with Peyton for so many years, it's hard to go through these 1-3 seasons like with Jeff George". I ran across a lot of players who were great people; you don't hear about all the great things they do - we tend to focus on the negatives - but I ran across a lot of great young men in those 28 years. "No one has ever represented the game or the league with more class than Peyton Manning". "I keep checking my health to make sure everything checks out", Manning joked. "Your generosity putting this tribute together is nothing short of mind boggling".

Manning, a five-time NFL MVP, concluded the event Saturday by proclaiming, "I will always be a Colt" and throwing autographed footballs into the crowd. Just in case anyone forgot where he played the majority of his legendary career, though, the Indianapolis Colts have memorialized the future Hall of Famer in white and royal blue forever. "Two, whether he knows it, whether he wants it, I'm friends with Peyton Manning", said David Letterman.
