Meghan McCain joins ABC's 'The View' as newest co-host

ABC's "The View" has a new co-host: Meghan McCain.

Rumors had been circulating that McCain would join the morning talker, after conservative voice Jedidiah Bila abruptly exited the show last month.

"To be the conservative on this show is something I take very seriously and I'm excited to bring a different perspective to the show", McCain, daughter of Republican Arizona Sen.

She appeared for the first time during today's Hot Topics table on the show.

"I am committed until I die to helping solve this", McCain said.

To co-host Behar, she quipped, "I don't think we're going to agree on anything, Joy".

McCain shot back that National Football League players of course have the right to protest, but she doesn't think it's the most respectful way for them to do so.

Before cutting to commercial, Goldberg had a message for Meghan's parents, saying into the camera, "We got her". John McCain, and has had a fairly high profile in media since her father unsuccessfully ran for president back in the late 2000s. She said that the "doctors and nurses and cancer researchers" were her heroes. She's also had a few stints as a television host and resigned her position as a Fox News contributor to take on the new job at ABC. McCain wrote on Twitter.

Goldberg introduced the new co-host, calling her "a strong voice for young conservatives" and added further praise, labeling her as "fearless, speaking out about issues that affect women and all Americans". "I just want you and Cindy to know she's in good hands here".
