Hulu dives into eSports with four ESL-made shows

This announcement comes on the heels of the release of Nielsen's eSports playbook, which could have played a part in convincing Hulu to devote unprecedented resources to eSports coverage. “Esports appeals to a younger, more digitally savvy audience so Hulu is a ideal platform to build out our original content and expose the world of esports to new audiences.”.

Hulu has announced plans to partner with esports giant ESL to create several new series centered around professional gaming.

Meanwhile, Hulu's Vice President of Content Acquisition Lisa Holme said "viewers, especially those watching Hulu on consoles, are hungry for this type of content".

Player vs Player will be a "gamified debate show" with casters and other important figures from the esports community talking about the hottest topics. In game show fashion, panelists will earn points throughout the debate leaving somebody with bragging rights after a final round focusing on classic video games.

If you're a Hulu subscriber you can look forward to a game-style talk show called Player v Player, a docu-series following the Counter-Strike-playing Immortals team called Bootcamp, a general esports show called Defining Moments, and a tournament recap show called ESL Replay.

Defining Moments will offer a "deep into the most impactful moments in eSports history with passionate casters and analysts explaining what made these moments so monumental", ESL said. Defining Moments will cover numerous top games and fan the flames of ongoing debates about these plays.

ESL Replay: A standard replay show meets docuseries, following the behind-the-scenes action of ESL's big multi-day tournaments, including Dota 2, Battlegrounds and two CS:GO tournaments. Some behind the scenes tournament clips will also be added in attempt to keep it interesting for those who have watched tournament events live.
