Chapel Hills Mall in Colorado Springs won't be open on Thanksgiving of 2017.
West Towne and East Towne malls along with the Janesville Mall will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
The trend in recent years has been for retail stores and shopping centers to get a jump start on the holiday season by opening on Thanksgiving Day.
Department stores and other retailers with exterior mall entrances will have the option to be open on Thursday.
This is not the first time the mall has closed on Thanksgiving. Macy's will open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, JC Penney at 3 p.m. and Sears at 6 p.m. CEO Stephen Lebovitz said in Wednesday's announcement that the positive response from customers, retailers and employees led the property manager to make the same choice for this year.
CBL also owns The Pavilion at Port Orange, an outdoor lifestyle shopping center.
The Summit spokeswoman Britni Johnson said while the shopping center will be closed, some "individual stores may have alternate schedules at their own discretion".
