'Wonder Woman' Star Gal Gadot In Talks To Join WWII Thriller 'Ruin'

Princess of the Amazons Gal Gadot is a rising A-list actress with a slate of film projects that is rapidly filling up.

Deadline is reporting that Wonder Woman and Justice League star Gal Gadot is in talks to join Assassin's Creed director Justin Kurzel's next film Ruin. The 32-year-old also recently signed onto star in Kornel Mundruczo underwater thriller Deeper, which also features Bradley Cooper, and tells the story of former astronaut who goes on a deep-sea dive mission. Ruin is eyeing an early 2018 production start in hopes of shooting ahead of Gadot's next DCEU film, Wonder Woman 2, which director Patty Jenkins will return to helm.

Ruin, on the other hand, is rooted in historical fiction.

One that should be of particular interest is the very now relevant Ruin, a Justin Kurzel-directed post-WW2-era movie in which a former Nazi captain seeks penance for his war crimes by hunting down his former team members. The script centers on an ex-Nazi captain in post-World War II Germany.

Now that is one unique-sounding protagonist-a self-hating Nazi, as it were?

Coming off her turn as Diana/Wonder Woman in the standalone film and Justice League, Gadot may be seeking a role that takes her away from superhero fantasy and into a more gritty and realistic milieu. A member of the death squad being hunted down? We'll just have to wait and see.
