BIG 12 SPOTLIGHT: TCU still stopping Big 12 with Coach P's D

Texas Christian University is probably the most consistent football team that Kansas State has faced so far this year. The Wildcats anticipate their 37th consecutive home sellout. And on a fourth-and-inches play, TCU opted to be aggressive and it paid off, with Jalen Reagor running for seven yards, and almost breaking it for a touchdown.

Next up is a road game at always solid Kansas State, a team more than capable of knocking TCU off. But he's not almost the passer that Ertz is, looking shaky in his five pass attempts, completing two of them for 30 yards.

The offense, the nation's best on third-down, scored 131 points, rushing for 662 yards and nine touchdowns in the last three games. In the receiving end, Dalton Schoen posted 128 yards and two touchdowns in five receptions while Dominique Heath added 55 yards in three receptions.

On the ground, Alex Delton rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns while Alex Barnes added 57 yards in 13 carries.

Kansas State has had a swift fall from grace as it lost to Texas in overtime - its second loss of the season. These two receivers are becoming a feasible solution to that problem for coach Snyder. So the Wildcats have outrushed three of their last four foes. In addition to the 546 yards, they also gave up 380 through the air and didn't record one sack. The Wildcat defense ranks 33rd in the country, surrendering only 20 points a game. Now, the public has pushed that up to six because of all the money pouring in on the Horned Frogs.

Bill Snyder has not coached a home win against a Top 10 opponent since K-State toppled No. 4 Nebraska in 2000. He makes good choices when he checks down, and he knows when to pull the ball down and scramble. The Wildcats are a scrappy team and at home for this one so I expect that to be the case this Saturday.

About Kansas State: The Wildcats almost pulled off another win over the Longhorns in Austin but couldn't find a way to slow down Texas.

As for the total 53, well I think that this could go either way. To date, possibly the biggest win in college football has been Oklahoma defeating Ohio State, led by a fired-up Mayfield who literally planted his flag in the Block O at the Horseshoe. If you put my feet to the fire on this one I'd say to play the over because I also believe close games tend to drive teams to score fluently in all four quarters. I bet every game is going to be like this.

The Horned Frogs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games.

But above all else, Patterson has taken a team that was once struggling to find its identity - bouncing back and forth between lower-tier conferences - up to the ranks of the Big 12 Conference with a winning season right out of the gate.

The Under is 6-2 in the Horned Frogs last 8 road games.

Criticism of Big 12 football, Bowlsby said, "gets a little tiresome because I know we play at a very high level and I know that top to bottom we're the best in the country in terms of balance".
