The New Mutants will come to theaters on April 13th, 2018.
The trailer for the upcoming X-Men spin-off movie The New Mutants has arrived and it's even more terrifying than we expected! The director made the announcement on Instagram and his caption promises that we're in for something very different from what the X-Men movies usually provide us with.
Judging from this first teaser trailer, it sure looks like they've succeeded.
On the casting docket for The New Mutants are The Witch breakout Anya Taylor-Joy (Illyana Rasputin/Magik), Maisie Williams (Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane), Charlie Heaton (Sam Guthrie/Cannonball), Alice Braga (Dr. Cecilia Reyes), Henry Zaga (Roberto da Costa/Sunspot), and Blu Hunt (Danielle Moonstar/Mirage). So if you're a massive X-Men fan and want to be among the first to see the trailer, you may want to plan for a late night. According to the official logline, the film follows five young mutants who are just learning to understand and use their powers while they're trapped in a secret facility. Inspired by the dark supernatural horror of the "Demon Bear Saga", which ran from New Mutants #18-21, Boone has upped the ante by creating a world in which powerful mutants are essentially "institutionalized" because they aren't safe. Boone has teased that New Mutants is a horror film, and Fox studio exec Stacey Snider compared the X-Men spinoff to "a haunted house movie."
Josh Boone is a massive comic book fan, and he grew up loving Claremont and Sienkiewicz's New Mutants run.
