In the intervening time, Bredow had physical custody, while Horne took charge of the boy on alternate weekends.

Bredow is in the middle of a custody battle over her son with James Horne, the boy's father.

Rebecca Bredow was last week sentenced for contempt of court almost a year after an Oakland County judge ordered her to have her nine-year-old son vaccinated.

Bredow told reporters Wednesday she was "in shock" by the court's decision. Bredow was released on Monday. She said she will do that.

Bredow and Horne split in 2008, before their son was born.

A MI mom lost primary custody of her 9-year-old son after she refused to vaccinate him. "I'm a passionate mother who cares deeply about my children, their health and their well being".

"I am an educated vaccine-choice mother and I have signed vaccine waivers and have been fully compliant with all state laws for both of my children for every school year", Bredow said before the sentencing hearing last week.

In a teary response, Bredow said her week in prison had been the worst few days of her life, "except for the fact that I just found out that he was vaccinated and I'm not going to get him back today", according to USA Today.

Bredow was sentenced to seven days in jail for not following a court's consent order to vaccinate her son.

Bredow said it was "against her beliefs" to vaccinate her children.

"It was the worst five days of my life, except for the fact that I just found out that he was vaccinated and I'm not going to get him back today", Bredow said of the vaccinations and her jail term.

"I understand you love your children, but what I don't think you understand is your son has two parents, and dad gets a say", McDonald said. "Even if you agree to them, which you did".
