Rodgers leads all quarterbacks in passing touchdowns this season with 13 and ranks fourth in passing yards with 1,367 through his first five games of 2017.
As Jones relayed it, Montgomery told him that whatever he did - right or wrong - do it fast.
"It made me feel very comfortable about today and the workload today", Montgomery said after practice.
"Anytime he's ready, I'm ready", left guard-turned-replacement left tackle Lane Taylor said.
He was supposed to run a "sneak" route, a move that would have him break toward the middle of the field.
"You hate to ever have one of your key cogs not in there", defensive coordinator Dom Capers said. "Number 2, we've got to get Aaron ready, we've got to get Jamaal ready", McCarthy said. Another DNP would place rookie Aaron Jones at the top of the RB pecking order.
