Reports of a possible shock switch to the Emirates gathered pace on the final day of the summer window, with City rumoured to be willing to use Sterling as a makeweight in any deal to sign Alexis Sanchez.
"Pep is on top of everything, not only talking to us about football but making sure we are OK with our family and things like that", he added.
Sterling has played a key part in City's excellent start to the season that has seen them move two points clear at the top of the Premier League as well as having a ideal opening in the Champions League. But I don't help him by comparing him with Messi.
"I didn't need to speak with him (Guardiola), because I had already spoken to him during the summer about pre-season", said the England man.
But he said: "I didn't have any negative thoughts and didn't need to worry about it". Until I heard something from the manager...then I would believe it.
"It wasn't something I was anxious about, because Pep is an honest guy, and he would have spoken to me about it before that".
It's a massive year for me, massive year for the team, I just need to keep building, keep working hard and go to the World Cup on a positive.
Things have rarely looked as rosy at worldwide level for Sterling as they do now at City, with some below-par performances and the drawn-out nature of his switch from Anfield leaving him as the target of considerable online vitriol. Since I have been getting those negative comments, I realise the best thing to do is not to look at it so it won't affect you.
'I've got two and a half years left.
Sterling has scored seven goals so far this season, including one in the 7-2 hammering of Stoke on Saturday.
