Injured Mane named to play in Senegal's World Cup ties next month

Senegal have received a massive boost for their 2018 World Cup qualifier double-header against Bafana Bafana next month after Sadio Mané was included in their squad despite nursing a hamstring injury.

Liverpool said the forward could be out for up to six weeks on 10 October.

With Senegal sitting at the top of their group, they only need two more points to confirm their place in next year's World Cup tournament in Russian Federation.

"Sadio Mane has resumed individual training and will probably resume full training next week", said Senegal coach Aliou Cisse.

Mane has been ruled out for between 6-8 weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury in the 2-0 win against Cape Verde Islands in Praia two weeks ago.

It is unclear when Mane will return to action, having already missed Liverpool's Premier League draw with Manchester United and the 7-0 thrashing of Maribor in the Champions League.

The replayed game will take place in South Africa on 10 November, with the Senegalese capital Dakar hosting the final qualifier four days later.

Senegal now lead CAF qualifiers Group D and need two more points from two remaining matches (both against South Africa) to secure their place at Russian Federation 2018.

Originally, Senegal had lost their visit to South Africa in November 2016, but the result was annulled after Joseph Lamptey, the referee in charge of the game, was found guilty of manipulating the match.
