Fernando Alonso to start season best sixth in F1 Brazilian Grand Prix

"Ten is when you win a championship, or even more than that", Massa said.

Massa also received a wonderful message from his son, Felipinho, after he crossed the finish line. I'm so proud, I have so much emotion for everything that I have passed through [in F1] after such a long time.

"I am going to miss you a lot. By the way, I loved your start!"

"It's so hard to explain my feelings today", he added.

"I think we have a good auto for Sunday but I have no doubts that (Daniel) Ricciardo and (Lewis) Hamilton will come back tomorrow very strong in the race".

The 36-year-old Massa delivered one of the best starts of the race and finished ahead of long-time rival Fernando Alonso of McLaren.

"I managed to pass him on the re-start, but after that it was so hard". Today I think I finished with a result like a victory, doing more than maybe what the vehicle was able to do.

"Unfortunately the cars this year in this kind of place they can be very hard to pass and it gets a bit boring unfortunately".

"The feeling that I had on the human side after the race past year - really, I never thought I would feel that, or I would have that in my career", he said. I drove a flawless race from beginning to end, managed the tyres, managed everything around the vehicle, the pace I had.

"It's so wonderful to finish the race and feel the emotions of the people after such an awesome race", he said. "I will never forget today", the Brazilian said after being invited to the podium in a crowded Interlagos track in Sao Paulo.

"I have now enjoyed four great years with the team, but my career in Formula 1 will finally come to an end this season". I will try to defend from whatever guy is attacking me and hopefully we score points tomorrow.

"That's quite a good direction that we took and in Australia next year we will be a completely different team and we are looking forward".
