Built-to-order McLaren 720S exhibited at Dubai Motor Show

To personalize the auto added more than 120 hours to the production process.

Built by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the 720S combines a satin black paintwork with gold-colored wheels and interior trim. To ensure the gold bits really stand out, the vehicle gets a Zenith Black paintjob with a satin finish.

The uniqueness of the vehicle is also given by the "1 of 1" plaque found inside the auto, as well as the rear wing that features Bruce McLaren's words: "Life is measured in achievement, not in years alone". Not only that, but the lettering has been shaped to mimic the skyline of Dubai. The vehicle was made to order for a customer who will take delivery soon after the show.

To create the desired visual impact of the gold lettering, custom stencils produced by the MSO design visualisation team had to be used. The steering wheel, gearshift paddles and door cards all feature gold detailing while, in a nod to the iconic McLaren F1, the engine bay heatshield has been lined with 24-carat gold.

The auto started life as a McLaren 720S Performance and received an array of MSO Bespoke carbon fiber parts such as the front splitter, air intakes, rear bumper, roof panel, rear diffuser, side mirror arms, rear aero bridge, plus deck and engine covers. The interior is also completely black, with both black Alcantara and black leather trim complemented by MSO Defined carbon fiber sill panels, fascia vents and steering wheel. This 720S will continue to source power from the same 4.0 V8 twin-turbocharged engine which is capable of accelerating from 0-200 kmph in just 7.8 seconds, all the way to a top speed of 341 kmph.

The vehicle isn't a production one - a plaque in the cockpit clearly identifies it as "one of one", but if you dig deep and ask nicely, we're fairly sure that McLaren and the chaps in the MSO division will be happy to put together something equally as striking for you.
