In a horrendous incident coming from the city of Chennai, a 22-year-old girl died on Monday after a man who is reported to be a former classmate and long-time stalker set her on fire. The victim's mother and sister have also been injured in the incident, as they tried to save the victim and have been hospitalized with severe burns.

The shocking incident took place at Indhuja's house in Adambakkam AGS Colony, Saraswathi Nagar at around 9pm. Her mother Renuka and younger sister Nivedhika suffered 50% and 20% burn injuries, respectively. The report also said that when her parents put out advertisements on matrimonial sites for Induja, Akash threatened them. However, she hasn't been going to work for the last one month, allegedly because of Aakash's stalking.

Police said they detained the suspect, 23-year-old Akash, who was pursuing Induja against her wishes for almost a month. The condition of the burnt house shows how Induja ran from room to room to escape Aakash's madness but by then she had been burnt badly.

When Indhuja didn't respond, Aakash went to her house on Monday night and committed the heinous act. Renuka and Nivedha are undergoing treatment at Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) Hospital.

Aakash absconded after committing the deed and was caught by the police later on.

However, other reports claim that there had been an altercation between Indhuja and the stalker first, after which he poured the petrol on her. On hearing the cries of the victim, her neighbours rushed to help the family and rushed them to the hospital.
