Drogba: Chelsea Legend To Retire At End Of Season

Drogba is now with Phoenix Rising, where he is also a part-owner, and has admitted that age is finally catching up with him when asked about the retirement question this week.

But none of his strikes were as pivotal as those scored in the 2012 Champions League Final against Bayern Munich.

Drogba has also enjoyed spells at Marseille and Galatasaray before he ventured into Major League Soccer with Montreal Impact.

The 39-year-old played in the best years in terms of trophies for the Blues. Those important goals that he scored made him a fan favorite for Chelsea.

"Ah, do you want a scoop?"

"John, I wouldn't say he's underrated because everyone appreciates how good he was but I think he's underrated on the ball, how good he was".

The pinnacle of Drogba's Chelsea career was certainly winning the Champions League. "There comes a time when you have to stop", said Drogba, who is reportedly aiming to follow in David Beckham's footsteps and attempt to launch his own MLS franchise.

"Now, was I part of the project when I wanted to come back?"

The 2012 Champions League victor scored 10 goals in 14 regular season games to help his franchise into the USL playoffs, where they lost to eventual championship runners-up Swope Park Rangers.

The Ivory Coast all-time top-scorer has repeatedly been linked with a move back to Stamford Bridge in a non-playing capacity, it will be interesting to see how it pans out.
