Former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger Inks Multi-Fight Deal with Bellator MMA

Jack Swagger is making the jump from the squared circle to the octagon, as the former World Heavyweight Champion announced he'll be fighting for Bellator MMA next year.

Amusing enough, Hager's bracket in wrestling that year also featured future UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, former Bellator champion Cole Konrad as well as current American Top Team wrestling coach Steve Mocco. He finished seventh overall in the heavyweight division in 2006 during his senior year with the school. "We started negotiations, and what not, and it literally got finalized this weekend".

The wrestler says he's been MMA/boxing training for eight months and is under contract for six fights.

Hager, who wrestled and played football for the Sooners, was among the nation's best collegiate performers in 2006. No fight date has been set for Swagger and he has yet to choose an MMA camp, but it should be interesting to see how he handles his career moving forward. His WWE run included reigns as ECW champion, WWE US champion, world heavyweight champion, as well as becoming the Money In The Bank ladder match victor at WrestleMania XXVI.

Hager was a college wrestling superstar at the University of Oklahoma.

"There are just certain types of guys that just need to be punched in the face, want to taste blood", Hager said.

Jack Swagger's time with the WWE came to a close earlier this year, and it seems now that he has made the decision to move over to the world of mixed martial arts (MMA). "It makes sense, right?"
