Undertrial shot dead at Rohini court complex

The victim was produced by the staff of the Third Battalion in Rohini Court, said Rishi Pal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini).

A case under section 302 (punishment for murder) has been registered against Abdul Khan at the Prashant Vihar police station. "The incident happened near the canteen area while he was being escorted and the shooter, who was arrested at the spot, is suspected to have been dressed as a litigant".

The firing occurred when an involved with more than 100 cases toward him was occurring presented at courtroom number 73. A 27-year-old Rakesh Mehra, an advocate, told The Statesman, "After shooting, the accused surrendered before police". He had earlier been arrested in 2010, following which he jumped bail.

The incident has raised serious concerns regarding the security of the courts in Delhi and additional deployment was ensured following the murder that took place in full public view.

President of the Rohini Court Bar Association, Mahavir Sharma, claimed they have highlighted the issue to police several times - but in vain. When the businessman came across the fact that Vinod had cheated him by handing him fake documents, he demanded his money back.
