"There are a lot of good football players in the NFL, but there are a lot of selfish players".

Quarterback Alex Smith has been selected as the Kansas City Chiefs' nominee for the 2017 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.

The award was created in 2014 in honor of Pittsburgh Steelers Founding Owner and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Art Rooney, Sr.

McCoy has met and exceeded all expectations of a player that personifies a true sport and one that never has any off-the-field or on-the-field issues, which explains why he has been a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan favorite since he joined the team eight season ago.

The eight finalists will be announced when players vote on December 15.

A year ago the award went to Colts running back and former 49ers star Frank Gore.

Each team has a representative that is nominated for the award and running back Frank Gore, who represented the Colts in 2016, was the victor last season.

Obviously, it's a nice honor for Hilton, who's one of the best players on the Colts and now has 36 receptions for 725 receiving yards (which are the 4th most in the league) and 3 touchdown receptions on the season.

He doesn't show up teammates after mistakes on the field.

Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald was the first to win the award.
