Mumbai Police increase actor Deepika Padukone's security

Earlier on November 10, the Supreme Court rejected the petition filed against the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus "Padmavati", saying the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has not yet issued a certificate to the movie.

Deepika Padukone made an appearance on the reality show "Super Dancer 2" to promote her upcoming film "Padmavati" in Mumbai on Thursday. While talking to a leading news agency, a senior Mumbai Police officer, Deven Bharti said, "We are providing her adequate security after the threat".

Opposition to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmavati" continued to grow with a Karni Sena leader on Thursday threatening actress Deepika Padukone with physical harm over her "provocative statements", while a Brahmin group held a blood signature campaign demanding a ban on the film. "The police will provide security at her residence as well as office in Mumbai".

Mumbai: The Mumbai police on Friday beefed up the security of bollywood actress Deepika Padukone in view of threats from the Shri Rajput Karni Sena (SRKS). "Disrespect of the actor or actor of Padmavati is uncalled for and immoral".

The whole kerfuffle is about accusations that the film has distorted Rajput history and that the movie doesn't do justice to the sacrifice Rani Padmavati did by committing Jauhar for 16,000 women.

The UP ministry said in its letter movie's release would not be in the interests of peace and order.

The petitioner is the same person who had thrown ink at Kejriwal in 2013, the video of which is now being shown as part of the film's promotion.

"Padmavati" is scheduled to release on December 1.

Meanwhile, Ajmer Dargah Deewan Khan compared Bhansali with controversial writers Salman Rushdie, Taslima Nasreen and Tareq Fatah, and said Muslims should oppose the film.

The Sarv Samaj Sangathan and some other outfits have termed a song in the film, which shows actor Deepika Padukone as Queen Padmini dancing in a courtyard, "crossing dramatic license". Now, we don't want any pre-screening of the movie.

"Padmavati" revolves around the story of queen Padmini of Chittore, her husband Rawal Ratan Singh and the adversities they face while fighting the tyrant ruler Alauddin Khilji.

With just few days to go for the release of the film, we wonder if the controversies will die down or not.
