Although the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show (LAAS) is right around the corner, it turns out that we won't be seeing the all-new Lamborghini Urus there.
Lamborghini has inadvertently revealed its Urus weeks out from the SUV's December 4 debut. The production auto is set to retain a similar design language to the concept, with a swept-back roofline and an aggressive front fascia.
The production Urus appeared briefly on infotainment screen in the video which demonstrates the vehicle's abilities in "Corsa" mode.
But it seems clear the Urus is going to arrive as perhaps the world's first "Super Performance" SUV, shouting its extreme performance nature from every jarring angle on its body. Powering the Urus will be a twin-turbo V8 engine, making about 650 horsepower.
The Urus shares its underpinnings with the Bentley Bentayga - and for that matter with any VW Group product using the new MLB Evo architecture.
Lamborghini has been very busy delivering tease videos for the nw Urus SUV, but they dropped a bit of a clanger with the latest effort.
"A super sports vehicle is completely different; you need the responsiveness of the engine, to feel the spark of every cylinder", said Reggiani.
In the run-up to the car's reveal, Reggiani claimed that the Urus's design, although applied to an unfamiliar bodyshape, is "pure Lamborghini". The site has recently undergone major construction work and the workforce is being expanded to prepare for an anticipated surge in demand. "We want to be a leader here and have a chance to change the rules of the game", he added. Lamborghini will therefore continue to offer both driveline systems.
