Terrorist killed as Army foils infiltration bid at LoC

A terrorist and a soldier were killed in an encounter along the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Wednesday.

"A militant and a trooper have been killed in an ongoing operation so far", the spokesman said, adding that two more soldiers suffered bullet wounds and have been hospitalized. The Army patrol and a group of militants exchanged fire in Keran sector around 1.30 pm, leaving three soldiers injured, officials said.

"Two soldiers sustained injuries in the operation".

The Indian Army is busy in search operations to sanitize the area and look for militants, if any. Army sources said that soldier of 9Sikh regiment were patrolling near Churn Post in Keran sector when they came under a barrage of fire from the hiding terrorists believed to be infiltrators at around 7.25 am.

"The militants fired on the army men and the fire was returned by the troops". A militant was also killed in the gunfight.

A soldier was killed and two injured in Zurhama village of Kupwara district after security forces launched an operation following specific inputs about the presence of militants on Tuesday. While Army and special para commandos are still in the area, they are yet to establish contact with the militants.
