A young woman from Bengaluru has alleged that an Ola cab driver held her hostage in his vehicle and harassed her.
The driver allegedly tried to touch the woman inappropriately after child-locking her inside his cab. On Monday, the young woman received six calls from Reddy, who not only berated her for complaining to Ola about his behaviour, but also threatened to cause her harm, saying that he knew where she stayed. "We have zero tolerance for such incidents", an Ola spokesperson said in a statement to IANS.
"As soon as I managed to get home on Sunday night, I tried to lodge a complaint with Ola".
The incident took place around 10.30 pm on Sunday, in a deserted spot on the Ring Road in south east Bengaluru, an NDTV report said.
The woman in distress started banging the door hysterically-he let her go after some time.
According to the woman, the vehicle had reached the intermediate Ring Road on the way to Koramangala when the driver stopped the auto by the roadside. The accused committed the act after locking her inside the auto using child lock.
Ola spokesperson said, "We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during their ride". He even tried to reach to the back seat.
The woman also alleged that the company did not inform her of taking any action against the driver. The woman ran for 500 meters till she reached the Ejipura traffic signal.
However, the cab driver allegedly continued to approach her in an indecent manner despite her warnings.
"The company on its part has claimed that it has taken necessary actions and the driver has been "off-roaded".
An Ola representative confirmed that after the incident was brought to their attention, and after they spoke to the woman concerned, they temporarily suspended Reddy.
