Apple has revealed its 2017 best-of list of apps, games, music, books, and movies sold across the company's various online storefronts.

Congrats to mindfulness and meditation app Calm and the $9.99 Affinity Photo from Serif Labs for taking home the coveted trophies, not to mention the little-known Splitter Critters and Thekla's The Witness for being named the 2017 iPhone and iPad Game of the Year respectively.

With 328 million users across the globe, the Huawei Mobile Service platform is coming to Africa, with the planned launch of a pre-installed localised APP store on Huawei devices. Both the games are not freemium titles. The rest of the list was mostly similar to previous year.

Super Mario Run tops the most downloaded games chart, followed by 8 Ball Pool, Snake VS Block, Ballz, Word Cookies and Subway Surfers.

Talking about apps, the App Store editors have identified four breakout trends in app culture for 2017. In India, the top movie of the year have been bagged by last year's Dear Zindagi followed by Sully and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi) and Raees.

It's also hardly shocking to see crowd pleasers and essentials like Bitmoji, Snapchat, YouTube, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Google Maps or Netflix among the iOS App Store's most popular 2017 apps. The game is available for free.

Li says that Huawei's APP Store is not aiming to compete with the likes of Google Play, but aims to supplement existing android APPs.

On Apple Music, Drake nabs album of the year with More Life, while Ed Sheeran's Shape of You gets the honors for top song. Apple Music Up Next 2017 artists Khalid, Daniel Caesar and 6LACK all earned GRAMMY nominations as part of their success this year. The top TV show download went to Game of Thrones and Walking Dead. Top movies for the year included names like Wonder Woman, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, Moana, Sing and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
