John Oliver grills Dustin Hoffman over sexual harassment allegation

Speaking to Oliver this week Hoffman said, "But there's a key a word that's left out in the quote, you know, as it goes around the world at a clip".

Hoffman's accuser, Anna Graham Hunter, said in a November 1 story in The Hollywood Reporter that Hoffman was flirtatious, grabbed her buttocks and talked about sex in front of her when she was a 17-year-old intern on a film set in 1985.

Hoffman replied incredulously: "It's hanging in the air?"

"I can't leave certain things unaddressed", the host said.

Dustin Hoffman had a tense exchange with talk show host John Oliver on Monday about the sexual harassment allegations recently made about him. Hoffman maintained that he did nothing wrong. He said he had not engaged in groping, didn't recall meeting Graham Hunter and that all his comments on set were simply how members of "a family" talked to one another.

"It's that part of it, and I'm not the moral officer of anything, it's just, "It's 'not reflective of who I am".it's that kind of response to this stuff that pisses me off", Oliver said. I still don't know who this woman is.

Oliver moved the conversation to another topic, but Hoffman returned to the discussion, which set off another 15-minute argument. Oliver responded that he was unsatisfied by the actor's statements and felt he was trivializing his accuser's concerns. Laura Podesta also took Twitter and mentioned about the incident. Her tweet was "You've made this incredible assumption about me, sir".

The conversation grew increasingly angry as it wore on.

Rapaport concluded, "I wish 80-year-old Dustin Hoffman would have got up and told you to suck his 80-year-old d- live on stage, punk-ass motherf-ing John Oliver".

"And I'm [glad] I wasn't", the host replied. "'Why. didn't I say something?'" In a statement at the time, the actor said "I have the utmost respect for women and feel bad that anything I might have done could have put her in an uncomfortable situation". "Thank you for believing women", one yelled to Oliver. "That you go by a couple of things you read".

You want to expect more from a woman, but then, this is a woman who has managed to make an extremely successful career for herself in Hollywood despite the boys club of it all. The easy way is not to bring anything up.

It seems if as no one really expected the panel discussion to take such a heated turn, but Oliver's questions for Hoffman ultimately gave people a lot to think about. "That leads to me at home later tonight hating myself, asking, 'Why the fuck didn't I say something?" He made the audience in NY see how a powerful man faces questions about such allegations, live.

The actor asked why the questioner wouldn't hear his side. Nothing. And she was very upset and she turned and said don't you ever do that to me again.

"It's fascinating because of the dynamic", said Mara Reinstein, a former Us Weekly editor who specializes in media and celebrity.
