Fired former national security advisor Mike Flynn exalted that a nuclear deal involving Russian Federation was "good to go" just minutes after President Trump took the oath of office, House Oversight panel Democrats said based on a whistleblower's claims.
Quoting a confidential informant, Rep. Elijah Cummings, the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, wrote that Alex Copson, managing partner of ACU Strategic Partners, told the informant that Flynn would see that the sanctions on Moscow were "ripped up".
Before joining the Trump campaign, "Flynn had worked on a business venture to partner with Russian Federation to build nuclear power plants in the Middle East until June 2016, but remained close with the people involved afterward", The New York Times.
Cummings detailed the whistleblower's allegations in a letter to Trey Gowdy, the Republican chairman of the oversight committee, and called on the panel to subpoena Flynn to testify. These grave allegations compel a full, credible, and bipartisan congressional investigation, ' Cummings wrote.
The witness told Cummings and committee investigators that Copson shared a text message he had just received from Flynn, who was on stage at the Capitol during Trump's speech.
The whistleblower, who provided his account to Cummings in June, said he was with Alex Copson, managing partner of ACU Strategic Partners, a key Flynn ally on the nuclear project, on January 20, Inauguration Day. The whistle-blower, Mr. Cummings said, is willing to meet with Mr. Gowdy if he agrees to protect the person's identity.Читайте также: Melania Trump stopped at Whataburger while in Corpus Christi
Flynn's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment on the latest claims. "I am going to celebrate today".
Cummings said he was first contacted by the whistleblower last June, but suggested that his account had remained under wraps while Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating Russian meddling, was investigating Flynn. On Inauguration Day, according to the whistle-blower, Mr. Flynn texted the former business associate to say that the project was "good to go".
Now, Mr Cummings wrote, he and his colleagues have been authorised to to go public with the information.
Mr Copson showed his phone with the text message to the whistle-blower, who saw that the time stamp of the message was 12:11, but didn't read the text. Copson told the whistleblower, according to the Cummings letter, that Flynn would ensure the sanctions were withdrawn.
"Mike has been putting everything in place for us", Copson said, according to the witness, adding: "This is going to make a lot of very wealthy people". ACU was pushing a nuclear project in the Middle East that Flynn is said to have lobbied for while in the White House.
The letter from Cummings concluded with a request to issue subpoenas for "all documents and communications referring or relating" to Flynn's foreign contacts during the Trump campaign, the transition period and his brief time as national security adviser. But it's not. Cummings provided hard evidence that he wants to form the basis of a subpoena created to uproot what really happened.При любом использовании материалов сайта и дочерних проектов, гиперссылка на обязательна.
