Shooting reported at high school in New Mexico


The shooting happened early Thursday at Aztec High School, a school with about 1,000 students near the Colorado border. Police have not released the identities of the victims or suspect.

Three people are dead and more than a dozen others are injured after a gunman opened fire at New Mexico's Aztec High School Thursday morning. Heal would not say if the two people who were shot were students or adults.

Police had no details on the suspect but said the shooter "is down". Aztec Mayor Sally Burbridge confirmed that the shooter was down and said there is no more threat to the community.

Families and friends of students of Aztec High School are gathered outside city hall.

Deputies with the sheriff's office and surrounding police departments responded to the school after reports of a shooting.

In the small community of Aztec, anxious parents rushed to city hall to meet their children.
