Out-of-control vehicle plows into pedestrians on sidewalk


At least six people were hurt when a auto ended up on a sidewalk after crashing into two other vehicles in Lower Manhattan.

The crash happened about 1:20 p.m.at Liberty Street and Broadway, near Zucotti Park, according to police. The Lincoln continued eastbound and struck the rear-end of a Mercedes SUV before coming to a stop. A person on a bike was hit in the crash. A bicyclist was also injured.

Police say none of the people who were struck have life-threatening injuries. It appeared the auto had jumped onto the curb where pedestrians were hit.

A driver was being held at the scene, cops said.

An NYPD official said this crash does not appear to be intentional. Saipov has pleaded not guilty to multiple murder charges and providing material support to ISIS.
