Samsung announces new Notebook 9 series powered by Windows 10

The refreshed Samsung Notebook 9 (2018) line-up includes three models in addition to a new 2-in-1 model, called as the Samsung Note 9 Pen.

On the specs front, the Samsung Notebook 9 boasts of a 13.3-inch Samsung RealViewTouch FHD display. The 15-inch model also comes with an option of NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics card as well. For connectivity, the 13-inch Notebook 9 (2018) is equipped with USB-C, USB 3.0, HDMI, United States dollars card slot, headphone/microphone and DC-in whereas the 15-inch model has Thunderbolt 3 (or USB-C), USB 3.0, HDMI, uSD card slot, headphone/microphone jack and DC-in. Both the devices will be showcased during the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 that will be held in Las Vegas in early January.

This is all the more impressive considering that the "Pen" in this laptop's moniker stands for an included S Pen stylus accessory that's embedded inside the device and works without batteries. The Notebook 9 (2018) runs on Windows 10 and it also supports Windows Hello secure login with a fingerprint sensor. Much like Lenovo's Yoga tablets, Samsung's Notebook 9 Pen will flip around into various modes for tablet or drawing use. The company has not yet revealed the prices of the new PCs.

The 2 in 1 PC is a compact product with a 13.3-inch display which you can choose to upgrade to 15-inches and the pricing will vary based on the model you pick. This model also comes with its very own S Pen stylus, which can be tucked away on the front edge of the keyboard. They include a trio of Notebook 9 laptops, and the Notebook 9 Pen convertible. All the four models will be powered by Intel 8th-gen Core i7 processors along with Intel Graphics.

These clamshells also both support up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM and up to 1TB of NVMe SSD storage. As for ports, the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen comes with one USB Type-C port, one USB 3.0 port, one HDMI ports and a Dollars card slot. This will let users unlock the device using Windows Hello's facial recognition technology. It's also slated for release in the USA during the first quarter of 2018. As of now, it will be interesting to see how the Samsung Notebook 9 fairs in the market and whether it is able to beat the Surface and the likes of them.
