In the market for a new Google Chromecast or Apple TV media streamer for yourself or someone else this holiday season? Amazon is pushing deeper into Google's turf of online advertising and Google is moving into Amazon's territory of e-commerce and smart speakers, which seems to be causing tensions between the two companies. The spokeswoman wouldn't say when sales will start.
It's unclear whether YouTube will now return to the Echo Show and if Google is still planning on removing access to the video site from the Fire TV next month.
"We are in productive discussions with Amazon to reach an agreement for the benefit of our mutual customers", a Google spokesperson said.
"Amazon doesn't carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn't make (its) Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of (our sister company) Nest's latest products", Google had said earlier this month.
Access to YouTube on the Echo Show speaker with a screen was blocked December 5, while Google has said it planned to end YouTube support for the Fire TV set-top-box January 1.

Google and Apple did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Today, the online retailer appears to be acquiescing to Google's complaints over the lack of Chromecast devices on sale. CNET was first to report the products' return.
Amazon had always claimed that the removal of products was to "avoid customer confusion" where Amazon Prime Video was not supported.
