Responding to a question from a Polish reporter at an annual news conference, Putin said it was time for Poland to move beyond the plane crash, turn a new page, and "grow up".

The Kremlin acknowledged that Trump and Putin had discussed in a phone call Thursday how to counteract the North Korean nuclear threat, noting that the conversation came "at the initiative of the American side". Trump, though, has continued to view Putin as a potential ally, particularly when it comes to dealing with North Korea.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump discussed the crisis over North Korea's nuclear program in a phone call Thursday, in which the U.S. president took the unusual step of thanking his Russian counterpart for praising America's economy.

"President Trump thanked President Putin for acknowledging America's strong economic performance in his annual press conference", the readout read, adding that the two also spoke about North Korea.

"The two presidents also discussed working together to resolve the very risky situation in North Korea", added the White House. Erdogan discussed Jerusalem with Putin by phone a day after the United States decision.

He added that the Republican firebrand's moves indicated "investor confidence in the American economy, which means that they trust what President Trump is doing in this area".

The call came hours after The Washington Post published an in-depth story that detailed Trump's doubts of the U.S. intelligence community's assessment that Russia sought to influence last fall's election, leaving the "Russian threat unchecked".

Asked why Russian Federation had no effective opposition figures, Putin said that most of current opposition figures were focusing on "making noise" rather than a genuine agenda that can benefit the nation and compete with those in power.

Against the background of an ongoing inquiry into Russian involvement in Trump's 2016 election campaign, the president had the following statement on the nature of these latest exchanges. Yet US officials would not say whether such intelligence was shared with Trump, saying that his daily intelligence briefing is structure so not to upset him.
