Jimmy Garoppolo does it again as 49ers beat Titans

The 49ers entered Sunday's game trying to approximate what it might be like to play a meaningful mid-December game.

With:03 left on the clock, Gould launched his game-winning, 45-yard field goal, which he started celebrating even before it cleared the cross bar and got him hoisted onto teammates' shoulders at midfield.

Marquise Goodwin made 10 catches for 114 yards and Garoppolo completed 31 of 43 passes to go over 300 yards passing for the second straight game after last week's win at Houston.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Garoppolo has lit a fire under the Niners' ass. It capped a 49ers drive that began with a 54-yard pass from Garoppolo to rookie Kendrick Bourne and almost ended when Trent Taylor fumbled into the end zone after catching a pass.

The Titans fell to 8-6, but they still have a shot in the AFC playoff race.

Gould kicked three of his six field goals over the final nine minutes: 50, 48 and 45 yards and has now gone 20 consecutive without a miss.

The Titans took a 20-16 lead with an eight-yard touchdown throw to Rishard Matthews with 13:31 left in the third quarter, culminating a 17-0 run over three possessions after San Francisco took a 16-3 lead late in the first half. Gould's previous kicks were good from 38 and 48 yards.

On the next series, DeForest Buckner sack's on first down put the Titans in a hole that they could not get out of, and they were forced to punt.

Goodwin was credited with the catch on the simultaneous possession. Ahkello Witherspoon, who was listed as questionable with a knee injury, started and played the entire game.

Titans tight end Delanie Walker: He had a 4-yard touchdown catch, dropped an earlier potential touchdown pass, and fumbled away a second-quarter reception.

Expect a big bounce-back performance from Titans' quarterback Marcus Mariota today.
