Hodgson says Palace hopes lie with Gunners misfiring

We had the time between the Swansea game and Arsenal one to try and recover one or two players and luckily, we did.

Though Crystal Palace are not short of central midfield options, several of those - Yohan Cabaye, James McArthur and Ruben Loftus-Cheek - could depart Selhurst Park next year, with their deals due to expire.

City are a win away from matching the record of 19 consecutive triumphs set by Guardiola at Bayern Munich. However, the Gunners have now identified Zaha as a direct replacement for Alexis following his impressive performance against the Gunners on Thursday.

Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha has been linked with a January move to Arsenal as speculation over the futures of Alexis Sánchez and Mesut Özil continue to grow with the turn of the year just around the corner. In the first nine games, Zaha was not there, but when he came back in, the team changed.

His team are 15 points clear at the top of the Premier League, having won their past 18 matches in the competition.

The Metro claim that the Premier League champions are interested in signing the Ivorian, but we are by no means alone in the race to secure his signature.

"I would like to think that the way we finished the game and the way we approached the second half against Arsenal, [that] we haven't sent our fans away too unhappy although everyone is always unhappy when the result goes against you".

"They are doing it to everybody but the players we have are best suited to playing the way we are trying to play".

"I've assurances from the owners and chairman Steve Parish, it's not going to happen", Hodgson said. "That is not going to be helped by the fact that we play Southampton one day after Man City".

'That might make it an entertaining game for the neutral but it could make it a tough game for us.
