LaVar Ball: 'LeBron's coming to LA I know he's coming to LA'

Back in December, the Los Angeles Lakers organization, where Ball's oldest son, former UCLA Bruin Lonzo Ball is now playing for, enacted the "LaVar Ball Rule".

"That's terrible", Rivers said Monday before the Clippers faced the Atlanta Hawks at Staples Center. "I don't think that's the case". I'm sure there are plenty out there, but they don't have a voice in the National Basketball Association.

But the combined star power of all Warriors' parents pales in comparison to that of LaVar Ball, the father of Los Angeles Lakers' point guard Lonzo Ball who's every sneeze creates headlines. I said, 'Why do you guys have to cover that guy?' And they say, 'Well, we don't want to, but our bosses tell us we have to because of the ratings, because of the readership.' Somewhere, I guess in Lithuania, LaVar Ball is laughing.

There were his initial incendiary comments, claiming Los Angeles Lakers Coach Luke Walton has lost control of his team, and that they "don't play for him no more" in an interview with ESPN. They aren't examples of ludicrous statements, either, such as when Ball said he could have beaten Michael Jordan one-on-one, or that Lonzo was better as a freshman at UCLA than Steph Curry is now.

"I'm saying that they should look at their sources and do a better job of determining whether they have any merit or any validity, or are they just blowhard loudmouths", Carlisle said. He's too young. He's too young. Maybe that's true, and Lonzo doesn't want to play for Walton.

"I thought it was a cheap shot and I thought ESPN showed total disrespect", Van Gundy said Monday at Smoothie King Center, per Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.

"It's one of two things - 'Shut up, fall in line, let (coach) Luke (Walton) do what he wants to do and let Lonzo play how he wants to play, or we'll start taking calls'". Many around the league believe that he will walk this summer if the Cavs fail to dethrone the Golden State Warriors, who will be heavy favorites regardless of who they play in the NBA Finals. In exchange for that, they should back up the coaches. The forward out of Utah had failed to score in double figures in two of his previous four games after averaging 19.5 points per game for the month of December and hitting the double figures mark in 12 of 14 games to close out 2017.

"I feel terrible for Luke, that's my guy", Kerr said. It's just tough. It's the world we're in and we all made it. It is what it is and we all deal with it.

"Stuff like that, it's going to keep happening".

Blake Griffin rode on a stationary bicycle during the morning shootaround at the Clippers' Playa Vista training facility, the first step in the NBA's concussion protocol.

It's hard writing about America's most infamous sports dad, because giving him publicity feels like defeat. I watched a lot of the Laker game last night.

"Milos is doing well", Rivers said.
