FC Barcelona has just officially announced the transfer of their Turkish midfielder Arda Turan to Istanbul Basaksehir FK on loan until June 2020, as Turan's contract with Barcelona officially ends.
The 30-year-old struggled to make an impact at Barcelona after joining the club in summer 2015 from Ateltico Madrid.
Turan's new club Basaksehir have risen fast over the last two seasons to rival the established Istanbul triumvirate of Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray and lead the Super Lig by a point.
Turan joined Barcelona in 2015 from Atletico Madrid for £24.2m but with the arrival of club-record signing Philippe Coutinho, the 30-year-old has chose to pursue first-team opportunities in Turkey.
'During this period Barca reserve the right to transfer the player to a club belonging to UEFA, and will receive a variable fee according to his performances, ' said the Barca statement.
During his time at Camp Nou, Arda won medals in LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de Espana, but failed to hit the same high standards he produced at Atleti.
The club's president Goksel Gumusdag took charge of the negotiations, finally striking a deal with Barca's CEO Oscar Grau late in the week ahead of Saturday's announcement.
