This was a bad comment I made in poor taste during the height of the Bill Cosby headlines.

Then, as he waits for his drink, says, "Where's that Bill Cosby pill I brought with me?". The footage kicks off with Matthews asking: "Can I have some of the queen's waters?"

Matthews has hosted "Hardball" since 1997.

There are 2 comments on the Washington Times story from 1 hr ago, titled Chris Matthews apologizes for joke about slipping Hillary Clinton a a Bill Cosby pilla. "I realize that's no excuse".

Dozens of women have accused Cosby of drugging them with pills and raping them. "I deeply regret it and I'm sorry", he said.

"As person who set up this interview and assured HRC & team I believed Chris would be fair, this makes me feel ill. As I recall he got pretty angry with her after she challenged him during foreign policy section", Palmieri tweeted.

Matthews has always been known to have a combative relationship with former candidate Clinton.

Prior to their chat at an Iowa fire station, Matthews was recorded joking about in a way that made light of both Clinton and sexual assault.

Back in 2008, he also pinched Clinton's cheek after conducting an interview with her, saying afterwards that he was "not obsessed" with the former First Lady. Matthews said to a crew member. "We keep forgetting it".

For those following Matthews, who laughed Thursday at the prospect of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe punching President Donald Trump, the comments are not surprising.

In Decemeber, the Daily Caller reported a former MSNBC employee received separation-related compensation after lodging a complaint against Matthews in 1999.

"Did you see her walk?" "My God is that good".
