Christian Pulisic has withering response for critic of American soccer system

They are now readying a bid for the winger and face opposition from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for his signature.

After a video of Pulisic dunking went viral earlier this month, the Borussia Dortmund attacker discussed his basketball fandom and admiration for the four-time NBA MVP.

"Pulisic is part of that generation. That's what I loved about him".

Journalist Raphael Honigstein told The Totally Football Podcast that he'd be very surprised if Liverpool didn't come in heavily for Pulisic.

The report also suggests United could look to use Henrikh Mkhitaryan as a potential makeweight in any deal, and says Jose Mourinho has interest in another Dortmund star, Julian Weigl.

Liverpool has shown interest in the Borussia Dortmund product, while Manchester United has not hidden its willingness to contest any move made for the younger United States star during this summer's transfer window.

BVB director Michael Zorc has Reviersport: "Those experts are being paid to talk a lot". I know no one means harm to me like that or wanting to put too much pressure on me. I prefer to stick to the facts. He's a great soccer player, but the financial opportunity of bringing Pulisic, who is already the greatest American soccer player ever in terms of skill, provides teams like Manchester United a vast economic incentive to spend what will end up being a fee of around $100 million for Pulisic's talents. But [the winter break] has given us good time in the training camp to learn some things and see how we want to play and figure things out. The likes of Paul Pogba, Victor Lindelof, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and even Romelu Lukaku, are all relatively young and will make Pulisic feel at home.

He was named named the USA Men's National Team's Player of the Year by US Soccer in 2017 and in June he ruled out a move to Dortmund's deadly rivals Bayern Munich.

Pulisic - who was a boyhood United fan - has seven goals and one assist in all competitions this season, and his budding potential could see his value skyrocket as the American is considered one of the most promising teenagers in world football. "I can't say that, but nah".
