49ers linebacker Reuben Foster warms up at Levi's Stadium on December 24, 2017.

49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was arrested by Tuscaloosa, Ala. police on Friday for possession of marijuana, according to the Sheriff of Tuscaloosa County's website.

He was arrested in Tuscaloosa and his bond is set at $2,500.

The 49ers released the following statement Friday night: "The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the matter involving Reuben Foster and we are now gathering all relevant facts".

During his senior season at Alabama in 2016, he was named the Butkus Award victor.

Last year's 31st overall draft pick in the first round, Foster finished as the 49ers second-leading tackler despite missing half the season with injuries.

A first round pick in last year's National Football League draft, Foster is now widely viewed as one of the NFL's most promising young defensive players. He was named the NFL Rookie of the Month in November.
