It continued: "We ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time".

News of Rebekah's "death" broke on Twitter in the early hours of this morning (Friday, January 12).

But after deleting the message, the 32-year-old uploaded a video pleading "Please stop spreading this news!"

A string of media outlets picked up the story after the official Big Brother account posted a tribute to the star - but in a freaky twist, she was later confirmed to be alive.

"This person can't accept the fact that I'm happy, that I overcame all my problems and then I'm finally living my life happy. I'm on holiday, I'm in Arabia, and I'm NOT DEAD".

The Brazilian star - who shot to fame on the 2009 series of the reality TV show as Rodrigo Lopes - passed away on Wednesday night.

"I lost friends, it divided my family and I had to undergo 16 surgeries".

The former Big Brother star spoke to Daily Star Online back in May, 2017 about the turning point when she knew her gender reassignment surgery was the right decision.

Shelton did not make clear whether she knew the person she claims hacked her account, or whether she would be pursuing legal action.

In 2016, she appeared on ITV's Judge Rinder show (similar to Judge Judy in the US), and talked about her transition.

In her video, recorded in a hotel room, she said: 'Hi everyone, I would like to kindly ask.

She started living as a woman in 2012. And she achieved so much through her transition", while a third wrote, "Oh no.

"It was a big step to go full time as a woman".

She also said she had felt forced to leave home before undergoing her surgery and turned to sex work for six months.

"I saw that terrible thing between my legs and I started crying around the hospital saying, 'I regret, I regret.' I wanted to kill myself because it was a nightmare".
