Three Former Students Are Accusing James Franco of Sexual Misconduct

Five women have publicly accused Hollywood star James Franco of sexually inappropriate behaviour, The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday, just days after the actor triumphed at the Golden Globes.

In 2014, Instagram showed an "embarrassed" Franco (top) apparently trying to hit on a 17-year-old Scottish fan.

The move prompted several women to turn to Twitter to accuse Franco of sexual misconduct.

Hilary Dusome was under Franco's tutelage in 2012 and said at first she found him to be "a really generous spirit". Franco wore a Time's Up pin to the ceremony in solidarity with the movement against sexual harassment and abuse, a move that prompted several women - including Tither-Kaplan and Paley - to come forward against Franco on Twitter. Actress Sarah Tither-Kaplan suggested Franco's practice of encouraging women to perform fully nude was "exploitative", and Ally Sheedy also appeared to suggest he had something to do with why she "left the film/tv business".

Paley previously told the Los Angeles Times that she and Franco were in a consensual, sexual relationship, but one time in a vehicle he pressured her to give him oral sex and forced her head onto his exposed penis.

"I personally checked on all the actresses constantly to make sure they were OK and comfortable", she said.

However, both women say they were approached by Franco during the shoot and asked which actress wanted to take their shirt off. "There are stories that need to get out", Franco told Meyers.

When James Franco's name was read out as the victor of Best Actor in a Comedy for "The Disaster Artist" at last night's Critics' Choice Awards, he wasn't there to accept. So, if I've done something wrong, I will fix it.

Paley told TIME that she met Franco through a mutual friend in 2016 and that he took an interest in her writing.

Actress Katie Ryan, who took some lessons at Franco's acting studio, Studio 4, said the actor "would always make everybody think there were possible roles on the table if we were to perform sexual acts or take off our shirts" in his projects. She said he apologized for ever making her feel uncomfortable.

Later, actress Violet Paley tweeted that Franco pushed her head toward his groin in a auto while the two were in a consensual relationship.

"I felt so pressured...and he started pushing my head towards it", she said. Four of the women who have accused Franco of sexual misconduct were his students, while another accuser claimed that he was her mentor. On "Live with Kelly and Michael", Franco said, "I'm embarrassed, and I guess I'm just a model of how social media is tricky".
