Comedian Aziz Ansari, who has spoken out against sexual assault, has been accused of sexual misconduct by a woman who alleges he pressured her to have sex with him after she said she made it clear she was not interested. During the night, Grace alleged Ansari kept moving her hand to his penis.
"23-year-old Grace* went on a date with Aziz Ansari in September".
Ansari was one of the many men who has voiced their support of the #TimesUp movement, which aims to eliminate sexual misconduct, and wore a pin supporting the campaign at this year's Golden Globe awards.
She sat on the floor next to Ansari and then claimed he instructed her to turn around.
She then says they walked back to his apartment, and started kissing. She describes how Ansari allegedly kept persisting in his attempts to have sex with her, "going to grab a condom within minutes of their first kiss" and sticking his fingers down her throat before performing a sex act on her. She says she eventually left in tears.
Ansari's accuser who identified referred to as "Grace" told the publication, Babe, that she chose to share her story when she saw Ansari wearing the "Time's Up" pin at the Sunday's ceremony, where he crowned the much-prestigious "Best Actor" award.
Sharing details of her story with the site, Grace said Ansari repeatedly pulled her hand towards his genitals despite her giving verbal and non-verbal signals to indicate she was not consenting.
Grace also supplied text messages in which Ansari appears to have followed up the incident by telling her, "It was fun meeting you last night". He was honoured for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy for "Master of None" at the 75th Golden Globe Awards. "It was actually painful to watch him win and accept an award".
"I wasn't really even thinking of that (sex), I didn't want to be engaged in that with him".
Even as the 22-year-old photographer was busy processing what had just happened to her, the day after their date, Ansari reached out to Grace.
