Klopp: I'm not angry over Coutinho

The Catalan giants parted with up to £142m to sign their long-term target, ending the Brazil international's five-year spell in the English top flight.

The Reds turned down three offers for the Brazilian in the previous transfer window, and denied a transfer requested from Coutinho himself, but after months of wrangling Barcelona finally got their man when the January window opened.

In 2012 Pep Guardiola made history by fielding an XI of players that all came through the youth ranks. The city is very nice. Messi however had different thoughts, persuading the player to remain at the club and push for an as good as ever contract.

If Coutinho was so highly rated, why did Inter nearly give him away? We played fantastic football without Phil. "He is behind Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard".

He has scored breathtaking goals, including stunning free kicks, and his departure must weaken Liverpool to an extent, but the loss of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino would hurt the team more.

Coutinho also did not travel with Liverpool to Dubai on Saturday for warm weather training - sparking rumours an announcement on his Barca transfer was imminent.

Klopp: I'm not angry over Coutinho

"If we struggle in the next few games, it isn't because Coutinho isn't here anymore, it is because of the team".

It was more risky to keep him in August than now. It is how it is.

Klopp is insistent that they won't be bringing in any player purely to make up the numbers because Coutinho has left and because they have got some spare change, but the deal must be right for the club to move for a player. However, once the summer transfer window closed, Coutinho returned to action and was in excellent form for Liverpool, scoring 12 goals, and registering eight assists, in 19 appearances between September and December. Talks of bringing in Naby Keita breaking his clause of joining from RB Leipzig in summer seems to be hard too as the Bundesliga outfit are adamant to keep hold of him until the end of the season.

The man who remains at Liverpool took to social media to express his sadness at no longer being able to work with Coutinho.

The Brazilian did not play in Liverpool's last two games against Burnley in the Premier League and Everton in the FA Cup. Since losing to Tottenham on Oct 22, Liverpool are unbeaten in 17 matches in all competitions and 13 in the league. Some reports have even claimed that Liverpool could consider battling Manchester City and Manchester United for signing of Sanchez from Arsenal.
