26-Year-Old RSS Activist Hacked To Death In Kerala's Kannur

Shyam Prasad, an ITI student and member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad was hacked to death by a three-member gang at Kommeri last evening, when he was on his way to his house at Koothuparamba on his two-wheeler.

Twenty-four-year-old Shyama Prasad, an RSS work was the latest victim in the political violence that has consumed Kannur in north Kerala over several decades. Police said, Shyam Prasad, an ITI student, was going to his house at Koothuparamba on his motorcycle when 3 unidentified persons came in a vehicle and attacked him at Kommeri around 5:30 PM.

Sources say Shyam Prasad ran to a nearby house to take refuge, but the attackers ambushed him outside and hacked him right on the spot. A school bus driver, the SDPI activist is recuperating in a hospital. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. Basheer is also an accused in the murder of CPM worker Naroth Dileepan. The words he used pop up in the heart of every common man who value humanity whenever an incident of political murder occurs here. The four persons were nabbed from the neighbouring Waynad district.

On Saturday, Prasad's body was cremated in the presence of senior BJP and RSS leaders in Koothuparambu.

Following Shyamaprasad's murder, the BJP in the district has called for a dawn to dusk hartal on Saturday.
