Rapper Fredo Santana found dead in Los Angeles home

Hip-hop stars are mourning the death of Chicago rapper Fredo Santana, who reportedly died Friday night (Jan. 19) as the result of a seizure. Although Santana dropped just one studio project in 2013's Trappin Ain't Dead, he stayed busy on the mixtape front and dropped two projects a year ago while hard at work on another project, Walking Legend 2.

TMZ said Santana's girlfriend found him dead on the floor of his house around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

The news initially spread after Texas rapper Maxo Kream posted about his death on Instagram.

And in October, he was hospitalised due to kidney failure.

Lean, also known as sizzurp or purple drank, can cause seizures. "I'm getting help I might just go to rehab".

Santana had previously defended his use of Xanax and lean after rapper Russ tweeted a picture in which he wore a t-shirt reading: 'How much Xans and lean do you have to do before you realise you're a fucking loser'. "I'm lost for words right now", he wrote on Instagram.

Fredo hit the spotlight when in early 2010 together with his cousin Chief Keef he released mixtapes like Fredo Kruger, It's a Scary Site and his Trappin Ain't Dead album.
