Class 12 student kills school principal in Haryana to avenge expulsion


The commerce student took the extreme step as he was upset over the repeated scolding in the school.

Gurugram: The Principal of a private school was shot dead by a Class XII student inside her office in Haryana's Yamuna Nagar here on Saturday. The student was rusticated from school about a fortnight ago for poor attendance and for picking up fights, an official was quoted by Hindustan Times. "She later succumbed to her injuries in hospital", Superintendent of Police, Yamuna Nagar, Rajesh Kalia told The Hindu over phone.

The teenager went to the school with his face covered and tried to escape after shooting Chhabra, but guards and parents who had come for the meeting overpowered him, police said. "He hadn't attended school for the past four days", the officer said.

During investigation, it came to light that the student stole his father's licensed revolver by breaking the wooden Almirah at his home. Then he headed straight to Chabra's room and opened fire, he added.

According to police, when the boy was asked why he shot the principal, he said "she tortured me". When told she was busy at a meeting, he forced his way in, took out the revolver and fired at her four times. The accused student has been booked for murder under section 302 of the IPC, said police.

The Class 12 student, who is a resident of Yamunanagar, has been detained by the police.

"He has confessed to his crime and the weapon has been recovered. He will be presented before the court the tomorrow".

The incident happened between 11:30 am and 12 noon and and triggered panic and horror among the school staff, teachers and students.
